The Future of Albert Robida

Albert Robida (1848-1926) was a popular French illustrator, most often remembered today for three books in which he imagined a future world transformed by technology: Le Vingtième Siècle (1883) La Guerre au vingtième siècle (1887) Le Vingtième siècle. La vie électrique (1890).

These works serve as examples of the French fascination with science and technology in the late 19th century. It is important to note that there are negative as well as positive aspects to the future presented in these drawings.
